Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut® stores have been around for over thirty years.  The concept originated from Canada and was developed into a national franchise system in the United States by Barbara and Harry Wellard, who own the worldwide rights and related trademarks of Tropik Sun®, Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut®, and  "...the fun-munchie store®".  The Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut® store franchise system is federally registered with the Federal Trade Commission whereby franchises may be sold in any of the non-restricted states in the USA and Canada. 

The Tropik Sun® concept is based on basic impulse merchandising.  Because of this, our stores are positioned in high traffic locations where customers can see the selection and want some of it without giving it a lot of thought.  We don't sell anything that somebody really needs, so our salespeople are trained to capture the customer with a friendly greeting and a taste of something from the display.

Over the long term, the candy and food industry has survived the peaks and valleys of every economic cycle. The advantage of the Tropik Sun® system over many other franchises is it's product diversity and simplicity of operation. Unlike other retail concepts which are limited, the key to the historic success of Tropik Sun® is it's ability to be flexible ... to remain popular regardless of changing tastes.

As the Tropik Sun® franchise chain grew throughout the Midwest and Southwest, our menu grew along with it.  We have established national supply relationships with recognized name-brands to better serve our franchisees with volume discount advantages, which help maintain our niche in the "munchies" market.  Unlike many franchises, we choose to establish these relationships directly between the supplier and our franchisees without participating financially at the wholesale level.  Instead, we negotiate the best possible off-list pricing through volume sales to our entire franchise system.

The initial franchise fee for a Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut® store franchise is $25,000, with an ongoing royalty of 6% of net sales.  The approximate cost to build a kiosk is between $50,000 - $85,000, including plumbing and electrical utilities brought to site.  An in-line store will cost from $90,000 - $165,000.  Operating equipment costs approximately $15,000 to $20,000 and opening inventory runs between $12,000 - $15,000.
