General FAQ's:

What makes your popcorn different from what I can pop at home or buy at the store?
The popcorn used to make our Tropik Sun Gourmet Popcorn is a special variety of kernel grown in limited quantities for our system. This variety of kernel pops consistently large and hearty popcorn due to its high water content. This special variety has been developed to withstand the rigorous tumbling process involved in making caramel corn, cheese corn and the other flavors we offer.  Take a look at the picture to the left - it details the special size and shape of our kernels.
I own a store and want to sell Tropik Sun Popcorn…how can I get this great product on my shelves?
Please contact us for details.  Tropik Sun has an aggressive wholesale marketing program for retailers and we will assist with display and merchandising. Pricing is extremely competitive, allowing keystone or better margins.  Minimum of 30 small bags per flavors - minimum 10 large bags per flavor.
Are franchise opportunities available?
Yes! Diversifoods, Inc., owner of the Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut system, is registered with the FTC to sell franchises in all non-restrictive states in the United States and all provinces in Canada.  Please see our franchise page for more information.
Do you have a “Frequent Buyer Program”?
Yes! All Tropik Sun stores that retail and/or produce our pre-packaged gourmet popcorn offer a frequent buyer program.  Each customer is given a punch card which is punched for each large bag of gourmet popcorn they buy and when ten holes are punched, they can get a large bag of whichever gourmet flavor they like!
Your products seem like they would work great for a fundraiser – do you have a program available?
Yes - essentially our wholesale program can be tailored to fundraiser programs as well.  Please contact us for more information.  We'd love to work with your organization!
I’d like to visit a store - where are some of the Tropik Sun Retail Stores located?
You can find Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut stores located in large regional malls from New York to California.
Is your popcorn Gluten Free?
Yes - Corn is a naturally Gluten-free food.  If this is a concern to you and you have a gluten allergy, our Butter flavor is a good choice.
Are there any allergy warnings I should be aware of before enjoying Tropik Sun popcorn?
Yes - One of the gourmet flavors of popcorn is “Caramel Peanut” which definitely contains peanuts.  Our other gourmet popcorn could possibly be exposed to peanuts and/or tree nuts during the production process.
Do you have nutrition information available?
Yes - Nutritional information about all of our gourmet popcorn products is available by request.  Please fill out the form on our contact us page.
How long will my popcorn stay fresh after I receive it?
The shelf life of popcorn varies according to the flavor coating it receives.  For example plain popcorn has a very short shelf life of less than a week, cheese flavored corn will retain it's flavor for up to three to four weeks, while caramel corn and chocolate coated corns will stay fresh for two to three months. However, these estimates rely on the proper method of storage in air-tight containers or bags to maintain freshness.

 

Ordering FAQ's:

 

I am new to shopping online…is there a number I can call to “phone” in my order instead?
Absolutely!  The phone number for Tropik Sun® Central, where our popcorn is produced, is (224) 433-6467.  You can fax your order to (847) 482-0023.  If you choose to fax in your order, please include a return phone number so that we can contact you to complete the checkout process.
What happens after I place an order?
Your order is processed by PayPal and we are sent a notification that you just completed your transaction.  You will also receive an email receipt from PayPal that confirms your order.  Please keep that for your records.  Our staff checks for orders periodically throughout each business day, so it is very likely we will ship out your item(s) on the same day you placed your order!
Can I cancel an order after it has been placed?
The simple answer is no.  Generally speaking all orders are processed shortly after they are received into our system.  If for some unforeseen reason you wish to cancel an order, you must contact us via telephone at (847) 482-0006 within 15 minutes of placing that order.  We will need your name and PayPal transaction number from the receipt emailed to you in order to look up and cancel your transaction.  Outside of this 15 minute window we are unable to process any cancellations.  Thank you for your understanding.
What is your return policy?
Our policy is that all sales are final and our items are non-returnable due to the nature of what we are selling.  Because we are selling a food-product, we have to ensure the upmost quality and safety.  Therefore, if an item is returned to us, it is not something we would place back into stock and resell.  However, our goal is for you to be 100% happy with your order and to shop with us for all of your snacking needs.  If for some reason you are not satisfied with our products or service, please don't hesitate to contact us.  We truly do care about our customers and we will do what we can to make sure you are satisfied.
What happens if the tin I selected is out of stock at the time my order is placed?
If for some reason we are out of stock in a particular tin pattern, we will contact you immediately to see what substitute pattern you would like.  For this reason, it is important that you provide us with your telephone number during the PayPal checkout process.  We will not use your contact information for any other purpose other than to contact you regarding your order(s) with us.
What can delay the processing of my order?
We do our best to process every shipment shortly after we receive each order.  Delivery times are based on UPS scheduling, but in most cases your order should be ready for shipping on the day it is placed.  However, some of our deluxe popcorn flavors require multiple coats and there is drying time inbetween.  Shipping can also be delayed if you pay for your order using PayPal's "transfer from checking" option.  This can sometimes take up to 7 days for the funds to be transferred from your account.  We recommend paying through PayPal with a credit card.  When you do so, payment will be processed immediately and we will be able to fulfill your order.

 

 

Shipping FAQ's:

 

Are signatures required for delivery?
Yes and No.  If your order is shipping to a residential location, UPS does not require a signature.  However, if your order is shipping to a business location, UPS will require a signature to release the package.  Please keep this in mind and plan accordingly when placing your order.
Do you ship / deliver on Saturday / Sunday?
UPS is our primary shipping partner and our shipping schedule is Monday - Friday.  Saturday delivery is available, but the cost is too high for us to offer it as an option to our customers.  We find that UPS Ground offers the best overall value and shipping time for our customers.  More than half the the country will enjoy 3 days or less shipping time for the reasonable shipping cost associated with UPS Ground.
Do you ship to Alaska / Hawaii or Internationally?
Absolutely - we can ship your purchase anywhere UPS delivers to.  However, our online shopping cart does not currently support calculating Air Mail shipping.  Please call us at Tropik Central to place your order and to get a custom quote on shipping charges.  Our number is:  (224) 433-6747.
Do you deliver to P.O. Boxes or Military APO/FPO Boxes?
Unfortunately, not at this time. This is because UPS only delivers to physical street address locations.
How long will it take to have my item(s) delivered?
Generally, UPS Ground will take anywhere from one to seven days depending on the distance from Tropik Sun Central and the day of the week your order ships out.  However, if you plan far enough in advance, UPS Ground works just fine!  Please see the map on our shipping information page for a delivery estimate for your geographic area of the country.

 

Franchise FAQ's:

 

What previous experience is necessary for consideration to be awarded a Tropik Sun® franchise?
Experience is always helpful, however, Tropik Sun® offers complete hands-on training to all franchisees on-site in their own store!  Please see our franchise page for more information.
How long from the time I am awarded a Tropik Sun® franchise to the time I can open?
A typical timeframe would be anywhere from 3 to 6 months, however, it could be up to a year. Fluctuations in schedule may be encountered due to site availability, financial considerations and/or the construction process.
Who will design my store?
Tropik Sun® has standard layouts along with the expertise and experience to design a customized store based on the venue, space availability and product offering. We will employ architectural services on your behalf when the need arises.
What is the length of term of a franchise agreement?
A franchise agreement runs concurrently with the space lease where stores are located. When leases are renewed, the franchise agreement continues in effect without a renewal fee.
What is the franchise fee and royalty fee?
The franchise fee is $25,000 due upon signing the franchise agreement. Ongoing royalty fees are 6% of net sales and are due monthly.
Is it possible to secure more than one franchise?
Yes! Tropik Sun® encourages all franchisees to strive to reach their maximum potential. A hand-shake right of first refusal is generally extended to existing franchisees for additional stores in a market area. However, Tropik Sun® cannot guarantee that market opportunities will remain available for a specific period of time.
