Tropik Sun® began in the summer of 1980 in downtown Chicago as a specialty retail chain offering a variety of nuts, dried fruit, trail mixes, carob/yogurt covered nuts and fruit, as well as fresh squeezed orange juice. The first introduction of candy to the menu came in fall of 1980 with the addition of the now world famous gourmet Jelly Belly® (made so by then newly elected President, Ronald Reagan).  At the same time, we expanded the menu to include jumbo chocolate items such as giant turtles, peanut butter cups and huge chocolate-covered Oreo® cookies.  Over the past 30 years, Tropik Sun® grew throughout the Midwest and Southwest, eventually expanding to over thirty states from New York to California.

Today Tropik Sun® has evolved to include a diversified and wide variety of "fun-munchies", gift items and thirst-quenching refreshments.  We offer over 20 flavors of gourmet popcorn, along with all sorts of sweet, chocolate-covered, crunchy, fruity and festive candies.  Our stores also feature soft drinks from smoothies to ICEEs® to the full menu of Coca-Cola fountain beverages as well as bottled waters and juices.  Some of our stores even sell ice cream!

Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut® stores are today's version of the old fashioned "penny candy" stores we all grew up with ...providing a bountiful array of well deserved self-indulgences to gratify immediate urges for a special treat or a gift for any special occasion. The stores are generally located in shopping malls or other venues providing high volumes of foot traffic and are either full in-line stores or kiosks. They are dressed up in a smart, clean contemporary package of basic white and chrome with accent colors of "hot pink", "sunshine yellow" and "bright green" as found in our logo. 

Tropik Sun Fruit & Nut® has a long track record of proven success which continues with the addition of our first street front store in downtown Libertyville, Illinois, bringing traditional retailing full circle.
